GIVING BACK TO FENNIMORE (OUR LEGACY) William Marsden and Dwight Parker created legacies for the people of Fennimore in the early twentieth century. Later, major fund drives were conducted for the Good Samaritan Center and Plattner Clinic. The people of Fennimore came through in big ways! MANY other activities have taken place to meet the needs of the people and organizations over the years. All of us, those in and around the area, and those who have enjoyed good years here but now live away can give back to Fennimore with small or large contributions. In addition to giving directly to specific groups or causes, three tax deductible, 501c3 organizations exist in Fennimore as mechanisms for giving and legacies. The Fennimore Scholarship Foundation, Fennimore Area Foundation, and Fennimore Area Health Services Foundation. Brief explanations of each are found here with information about contacting or giving. Fennimore Area Foundation The Fennimore Area Foundation was established in 2004 by and for community citizens to make a difference-to create a positive, meaningful, and measurable change. The growth of FAF depends on all of us and our gifts, which impact the present and future. As a permanent endowment or community nest egg, the FAF has the ability to respond to local projects and programs. While the people of Fennimore have always risen to the occasion to build or establish, ie the Good Samaritan Center and Plattner Clinic, there has never been a mechanism like FAF. Establishing the organization financially is a challenge, but will be well worth the effort. In addition to the general endowment aspect of FAF, people may designate their gifts or interest from their gifts for specific community causes. So far FAF has provided money for several projects to improve the community. They include but are not limited to: startup funds for the Gridiron club, community pool dressup and furnishings, Boy Scout equipment, Parker Library resources, Marsden Park facility improvements, and High School play support. There is literally no limit to what this organization can do for Fennimore as people think about and plan to give back to their town. Think of what could happen if ten families gave $10,000 to the endowment fund so interest could be put back into the community each year OR if one family gave $100,000 for a specific project that they felt strongly about and this gift made that project possible. Your legacy can be that you will help the people of the Fennimore area forever. Fennimore Area Foundation
