Community Invited to Help Decorate Fennimore
Fennimore has been chosen as the first day destination for the 2018 Nation of Patriots ride. The Fennimore Area Chamber of Commerce Marketing committee is pleased to announce to further enhance this year’s warm welcome to the Patriot riders we will sponsor a community wide “Patriotic themed” decorating contest. Our goal is to show respect to our Nations Veterans and also draw additional visitors to Fennimore for all the activities going on May 19 & 20. See the information and/or order a flag.
As part of the decorating contest we hope to increase the number of American Flags flying along Lincoln Avenue and other key areas. The City /Chamber is seeking donations toward the purchase of the American Flags, as well as other decorations, used to welcome not only the Nation of Patriots but all of the visitors passing through Fennimore in 2018.
All flags will be purchased from the Fennimore American Legion which uses points to provide awards to students at Fennimore Schools. All flags are high quality and are American made. There are two options: (1) make a $20 donation to purchase a flag (there is a limited amount needed) or (2) If all flags are purchased, consider making a donation toward other patriotic items to decorate our community.
Checks should be made payable to The City of Fennimore, c/o P.O. Box 17, Fennimore, WI 53809.
All donors will be recognized on www.fennimore.com and on the bulletin board at the Memorial building.
For details on the business and residential decorating contest check online or pick up a form at the Fennimore Memorial building, Fennimore banks and the Promotions Coordinator’s office.
Fennimore is a Focus on Energy Community
As a commercial or industry business would you like to know you could reduce energy waste?
Fennimore Water and Light has been working with Focus on Energy on their Community Small Business Offering. To qualify commercial and industrial customers with an average energy usage of 40,000 kWh or less this past July and August 2017, who operate nine or fewer locations in Wisconsin, and whose business (service location) is located in the 53809 zip code of the community campaign. Sorry, customers of the Agriculture, Schools, and Government, Large Energy Users, and Multifamily Energy Savings Program are not eligible for CSBO.

The CSBO offers the business the opportunity to have an expert Energy Advisors in Fennimore conduct free energy assessments from April 16-20, 2018.
The assessment can help identify energy-saving opportunities to lower your utility bill and improve operational efficiency. After completing an assessment, business can receive a free energy savings kit for their business. Plus, through this offering, you can take advantage of up to 50% bonus on eligible financial incentives.
Fennimore Water and Light is excited to be working with Focus on Energy (FOE) for the Community Small Business Offering. This is a perfect opportunity for Fennimore businesses to take advantage of incentives offered by FOE.
Forming Fennimore’s Future Goal Meetings
Following a successful goal setting meeting on February 7 community volunteers and organizations have started to investigate ways to accomplish the five main goals as well as some of the secondary goals. A complete FFF report is available on the Forming Fennimore’s Future webpage.

Mayor Seeking Public Input
Tree Board – The City of Fennimore is looking into the possibility of developing a Tree Board to assist the Director of Public Works and the Common Council.
The intentions of duties of the board would include: maintaining an inventory of trees located on public lands within the City, prepare and recommend to the Council a plan for the planting, care and maintenance of trees, apply for State and Federal grants for the implementation of the City’s tree plans and programs, provide a forum for and encourage public comment on City tree plans and programs. This is not a complete list, but it should give an idea of the involvement.
The Board would probably consist of 5-7 members from the community. Currently Cindy Arndt, Margaret Sprague and Lori Zoromski have shown an interest in being involved. If you have interest in serving on this potential Board, please contact the Director of Public Works at 608-822-6501 or email dpw@fennimore.com.
Water Zumba – the Mayor is also seeking interest from the community in regard to holding water Zumba at the pool this summer. If you are interested, please email him at mayor@fennimore.com
Name the Sports Complex – the Mayor is seeking input into naming the park area along a portion of land located at the corner of Bronson and LaFollette Street. The ball diamonds have names however the overall area does not have an exact title to refer to. Share your suggestions prior to the April 26 council meeting mayor@fennimore.com
