DESCRIPTION:Members of the Fennimore Area Pumpkin Growers Association have announced they will hold their annual GIANT Pumpkin Weigh Off on Sunday\, September 27.  The location of the weigh off is the parking lot of Hilltop Bar & Grill\, 760 Lincoln Avenue in Fennimore. \n\n\n\nYou must be a member of the group to compete in the contest.  Spectators are welcome and encouraged to stop by and view the GIANT Pumpkins.  \n\n\n\nGrowers are asked to start delivering pumpkins at 10 a.m. with the actual winner(s) being announced at 1 p.m.   There may also be some pumpkins available to purchase that day. DESCRIPTION:The Annual Southwest Wisconsin Tractor Ride will take place on Saturday\, July 31 departing from John Collins’ Shop on 1650 LaFollette Street in Fennimore at 9:00 a.m. sharp. Coffee\, milk\, and rolls will be available at 8:00 a.m. \n\n\n\nThe ride is free and open to everyone\, all tractor models new and old and wagons are welcome and may join the group anywhere along the route. ATV and UTV vehicles are not able to participate. Lunch is available at the Bloomington Fair Grounds with proceeds benefiting the Bloomington Fire Department. DESCRIPTION:The Blue Star Drum and Bugle Corps\, a world class group of 168 musicians\, are using Fennimore High School from August 2 – 6  as their home base for area shows and rehearsal times.  \n\n\n\nTheir schedule of shows and rehearsals include: \n\n\n\nAugust 2 – Rehearsal day in Fennimore  \n\n\n\nAugust 3 – Rehearsal day in Fennimore \n\n\n\nAugust 4 – Rehearsal day in Fennimore with a free public performance at 7:00 p.m. \n\n\n\nAugust 5 – Show in Rochester \n\n\n\nAugust 6 – Leave Fennimore \n\n\n\nAll rehearsal are open to the public with the best viewing times from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. as this is schedule for the full ensemble time. Rehearsals during the day are more segmented\, but still fun to watch. There will also be some morning and maybe early afternoon rehearsal times on their show day schedules.

That’s because they’re going on a road trip to visit ALL 50 states! \n\n\n\nYou’re welcome to tag along and maybe even sing along\, when the Fever River Puppeteers present: “Cat and Dog’s Trip Across America”. This unique\, 30-minute table-top puppet show features a suitcase “crankie” of rolling maps and flags\, shadow puppet animals from all the states and a mystery suitcase surprise.  \n\n\n\nThe Fever River Puppeteers are based in the historic Hazel Green Opera House\, where they have performed since 2004. They are past recipients of grants from the Wisconsin Art Board and the Dubuque Arts Council Artists-in-Residence program. SUMMARY:Memorial Drive Re-Dedication
DESCRIPTION:Veterans and community members are welcome and encouraged to join the Fennimore American Legion Post 184 for a re-dedication ceremony of Memorial Drive on Saturday\, August 28\, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.  \n\n\n\nOn May 1\, 1969\, the Fennimore City Council approved designating 12th Street as Memorial Drive in honor of Fennimore residents Francis Mulvey\, Allen Novinska\, and Donald Smith\, as well as all of Fennimore’s war heroes\, past and present. Mulvey\, Novinska\, and Smith lived on the same street in Fennimore and lost their lives within eight months of each other while serving in the Vietnam War. The original signage has since aged and weathered. The new updated signage will be unveiled during the re-dedication ceremony and will include the names of the three individuals being honored.  \n\n\n\nThe ceremony will be located near the southeast corner of the junction of Lincoln Avenue and 12th Street (in front of Casey’s General Store) and will feature a full service with the rifle team and honor guard. Attendees are asked to park on side streets and avoid parking in the Casey’s parking lot.
