Fennimore Area Chamber of Commerce Plans Several Activities

Motivational Speaker Feb 25

The Fennimore Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to sponsor James Schneider, owner of Blue Chip Training and Marketing, as their 2016 Motivational Speaker. It will be held at The Silent Woman/Fenway House Tavern on Thursday, February 25, 2016. Social time begins at 5 p.m. Meal at 5:30.

The meal will be catered by Timothy’s Cafe. Menu includes roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable, roll, dessert  and beverage.

James doesn’t believe in boring power point presentations he is all about role playing and getting everyone involved. During this interactive presentation “Getting Down to Brass Tacks – Old Ideas for New Opportunities,” James will get everyone involved in learning practical steps to build a BETTER COMMUNITY – BETTER BUSINESS – BETTER YOU!

This is an awesome opportunity for business owners and staff, board members, City Council members, and organization leaders to attend professional training at a reasonable cost while also avoiding costly travel time and expenses.

Taste of Fennimore March 5 – Tickets Now on Sale

Tickets for the 3rd Annual Taste of Fennimore are currently on sale at Fennimore Banks, The Silent Woman/Fenway House Tavern, Carr Valley Cheese, Wood Law Firm and the Promotions Coordinator’s office. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. No additional tickets are required for sampling. Advance tickets are recommended as tickets will be limited to 500 this year.

The event will be held Saturday, March 5 from 1 to 5 p.m. at The Silent Woman/Fenway House Tavern. More than 2 dozen vendors have already sent in registrations to showcase their food and beverages. Vendors who have signed up to date include: BD’s Eagles Nest, Carr Valley Cheese, Castle Rock Inn, Cottonwood Supper Club, Creative Appeal & Bakery, Creature Comfort Sauce, Frank Distributors, Hammerand Farm Market Store, Head 2 Toe, Just Like Home, Karla’s Kitchen, Old School Brewing, Potosi Beer, Rural Route 1 Popcorn, Second Shot, Spurgeon Vineyards & Winery, Saputo (Woolwich Dairy), Sugar and Spice Bulk Foods, The Butcher Shop, The Cottage Baker, The Silent Woman, Whispering Winds Winery, Hickory Hill Organic Farm and Whispering Bluffs Winery. Some vendor spaces may still be available, interested parties should contact Joy at Carr Valley Cheese 608-822-6416.

Some vendors will be selling food items so come prepared to shop. Beer and Wine sales are prohibited by state law. Sampling of beverages is free. The Fenway House Tavern will be open serving beverages for an additional fee. Adam Bartels and friend will provide music entertainment for the afternoon.

Chamber Membership Meeting

The Fennimore Area Chamber of Commerce (FACC) will hold their first membership meeting of the year on Thursday, March 10. The noon luncheon will be held at The Cottonwood Supper Club and Sports Bar, Hwy 61 North & Green River Road.

Guest Speaker is Brock Waterman, Business Consultant with the Small Business Development Center. Waterman’s topic will be “A business consultant’s view of how businesses could function more efficiently.” Chamber members, their employees and those interested in learning more about chamber membership are encouraged to attend. A short business meeting will be held along with distribution of 2016 Chamber decals, calendar and materials.

The menu for the luncheon is soup and salad bar, pasta, broasted chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable, dessert and beverage. Cost of the meal is $8.50. Reservations are needed by Friday, March 4 by calling 608-822-3599 or email promo@fennimore.com

The Fennimore Area Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all the businesses who have made their investment in chamber membership. The Chamber unites businesses, agencies, professionals and community organizations into a focused group for the betterment of the Fennimore area. Small Business Development Center

Brock Waterman has been hired as the new Small Business Development Consultant for the southwest Wisconsin region. He works out of the office at UW Platteville. As a business consultant, Waterman is available to help both existing and startup businesses in the following categories: Financial Decisions, Customer Understanding, Marketing, Risk Analysis and operations and related topics. These confidential consulting services are available to existing or startup businesses at no cost. Please complete the Electronic Request for Consulting (ERFC) to request a meeting with Waterman.

Waterman also encourages those interested in entrepreneurship/business ownership to read the book All in Startup by Diana Kander. The book is in story format, so it reads very quickly, and gets people into the customer focused mindset which is critical to business success.
