Chamber Chicken BBQ Tuesday, July 14

The Fennimore Area Chamber of Commerce (FACC) is pleased to announce they will hold their annual Chicken BBQ on Tuesday, July 14. The entire chicken barbeque will be carryout only.

Members of the Fennimore Area Chamber of Commerce (FACC) have announced a new concept for this year’s annual chicken BBQ scheduled for Tuesday, July 14.  Due to COVID-19 and the health and safety of all, the entire chicken bbq will be carryout only.  Thus the new name Drive Thru Diner-Chicken BBQ; sorry no dine in options offered this year.

The Fennimore Memorial building will still be the location we work out of. Simply turn west off Lincoln Avenue on 9th Street heading north on Madison Street,  have your tickets ready and volunteers (wearing masks and gloves will bring your meal(s) to you.  Serving time this year will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.  Advance tickets are strongly recommended.

Should you not feel comfortable with coming in the building, please contact Lori Barry at 608-485-0820. Please watch for updates on the Chamber Facebook page as we work through this different approach to bring you a fabulous meal.  For questions please contact  Lori Barry 608-485-0820.

The menu includes: ½ chicken made with Denny’s special sauce,  potato salad, apple sauce, string cheese, homemade dinner roll w/butter and bottle of water.

Ticket prices remain the same; just $11 in advance (purchased by July 13) or $12 at the door; advance tickets are recommended as the BBQ is generally a “sell out”.   Tickets are now available at Clare, Community First Bank, MidWestOne Bank and Peoples State Banks in Fennimore and the Chamber office, 850 Lincoln Avenue during regular business hours or at Casey’s and Hilltop for those who need to purchase after then get off work.

We strongly encourage purchasing tickets in advance as we hope for the meal to be a sellout!

Fennimore Waste Water Treatment Plant Update

The Fennimore waste water treatment plant project is now completed.  The Fennimore City Council plans to hold an open house in the future.  The City is currently accepting applications for a Water/Wastewater Treatment Superintendent. Details are available online www.fennimore.com under the government page.

The City of Fennimore’s Wastewater Treatment Plant is seeking crop ground, to include summer alfalfa, to apply biosolids on. We are seeking at least 20 acres. When the Wastewater Treatment plant receives raw waste, it converts it to sludge, or “biosolids” through various treatment processes.  This biosolids is rich in nitrogen, phosphorus and organic material, and when applied to land, it provides valuable nutrients that can improve the condition of soil, and yield better crops. This is at no cost to the land owner. If interested, and for more details please call The City of Fennimore 608-822-6119.
