Chamber of Commerce Chicken BBQ & Community Awards July 11

Summer is now in full swing and is definitely going quickly. Many say it seems as soon as we celebrate July 4 summer is almost over. I like to think the Chamber’s Chicken BBQ serves as the half way point of the summer. So if summer is flying by and you don’t feel like you’ve had much fun, why not, make plans to attend the Chamber of Commerce Chicken BBQ.

The Chamber’s Annual Chicken BBQ will be held Tuesday, July 11 in the Fennimore Memorial building which is air conditioned and bug free. The meal includes 1/2 chicken, potato salad/baked beans, coleslaw, dinner roll/butter and water. Serving begins at 4:30 p.m. and runs until 7 p.m. or until all tickets are sold.

Tickets, bought in advance, are just $10 and are available now at American Bank, Clare Bank, Peoples State Bank, and the Promotions Coordinator’s office. Tickets will also be sold, the day of, at the door and will be $10.50. Tickets sold at the door are limited, so it is recommended that you get your tickets in advance.

The chamber’s annual community awards recognition, which begins at 6:30 p.m., will be held during the Chicken BBQ.  We are asking community members to nominate a their favorite volunteers for City of the Year (individual), Family of the Year, and Business of the Year volunteers who have truly made a difference in the Fennimore community. If Fennimore wasn’t known as “The City on the Move!” we could be known as “The City of Great Volunteers!” The Chamber knows there are many, many volunteers that need to be recognized; you know who they are so take the time to nominate them so they get the recognition they deserve. Just a reminder the volunteers need to live within the Fennimore School district to qualify. Nominations should be sent to Steve Birkett or dropped off at Birkett Chiropractic by noon Friday, June 30. The nomination form is available online. Forms are available at the Promotions Coordinator’s office, Fennimore Times, Birkett Chiropractic, American Bank, Clare Bank and FirstMerit Bank.
