A diverse group of Fennimore residents turned out on February 7, 2018 to take part in a CommUNITY soup supper and networking with others interested in helping the community prosper. At 6 p.m., James Schneider, UW Extension, reviewed past goals and achievements and then began brainstorming new goals to work on as a community. The complete report is available.
Fennimore is well-known for their goal setting sessions that have taken place for more than four decades. The most recent Forming Fennimore’s Future community goal setting meeting was held in 2009. In 2018 Fennimore leaders decided it was time once again to bring back the popular goal setting session.
Forming Fennimore’s Future was co-sponsored by the Fennimore Area Chamber of Commerce, Fennimore Industrial and Economic Development Corp and the Fennimore City Council. The goal of FFF was to bring together multiple generations to review past achievements and collectively come up with goals to help Fennimore grow and prosper into the next decade.
A CommUNITY Soup supper was prepared by some of Fennimore’s best cooks and the chef at Hickory Grove Golf Course. The delicious meal was served by members of the Fennimore Student Council.
The brainstorming session identified 43 ideas. Everyone present was given three stickers to vote on their top three choices for FFF goals. Of the 342 total votes, 5 priority goals were selected along with 13 secondary goals. Participants were then asked to break into groups to further discuss possible actions necessary to achieve the goals.
