Fennimore Community Schools is an outstanding K-12 School system, offering quality education and diverse opportunities to students.
Fennimore Community Elementary School
Fennimore Elementary School serves over 400 students in four-year-old Kindergarten through grade six. The staff at Fennimore Elementary School strive to provide a safe environment to enable each student to reach his/her potential. Our mission statement is to “continuously improve student achievement, utilizing all the resources available to our community.”
Fennimore Elementary is a SAGE school. SAGE is a state grant which allows us to maintain class sizes of 18 or less grade K-3. Our school was recently listed by the Wisconsin Tax Payers Alliance as having the second highest gains in the state when comparing cohorts from their third grade through their sixth grade years. We are proud of our special education and Title I reading programs which both help to identify and serve struggling students.
Technology is interwoven into our school day and curriculum at Fennimore Elementary. We have a staff technology integrator who works with teachers to effectively integrate technology with the curriculum. This year, our school will have “Smartboards” in each classroom. These interactive whiteboards offer some very high interest and high impact learning opportunities for our students. In addition to computer technology, our school embraces audiovisual technology. We have a school-wide TV channel and a school TV studio which broadcasts a daily morning news show called “School Zone.” The show is delivered by 6th grade students and it showcases school events and news. Students watch the show as they enjoy breakfast in their classrooms.
A big addition to Fennimore Elementary has been our implementation of the “Positive Action Program.” Classroom teachers teach a daily lesson to students in this social-emotional learning program which is a proven evidence-based program for improving academics, behavior, and character. This is part of our focus on creating a positive and nurturing school community for students, parents, and staff.
