Community Development Manager

Summary: The Community Development Manager supports the City of Fennimore (City), the Fennimore Industrial and Economic Development Corporation, and the Fennimore Area Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) offices.

Fennimore, Wisconsin (population 2500) is strategically located at the crossroads of busy highways 18 and 61 in the heart of SW Wisconsin. This provides direct and convenient access to prime markets and suppliers.

The low cost of doing business is key to the profitability of Fennimore area businesses.

Fennimore’s city-owned electric, water and sewer utilities offer highly competitive rates and dependable service which can save substantial operating dollars. Fennimore Water and Light has been a Focus on Energy (FOE) partner since 2008. FOE is Wisconsin’s statewide energy efficiency and renewable energy initiative. This award-winning, nationally recognized program encourages Wisconsin businesses and residents to make informed energy decisions. FOE provides information, technical resources and financial incentives. Focus on Energy helps residents lower their cost of living and businesses improve their bottom lines.

Fennimore Municipal Building

Fennimore’s proud agricultural heritage along with a quality education system has created an exceptional workforce – productive, ambitious, intelligent and reliable. The Fennimore area workforce offers attractive wage and workers’ compensation rates and a productive workforce. Fennimore is a great place to live, work and enjoy leisure activities.

The fully developed city-owned business park offers building sites that are shovel ready with underground water, sewer, and electric service to the property line. All streets have curb & gutter and are paved with asphalt cement bituminous pavement. Incentives are available for prospective businesses. Available lots may be divided to suit the needs of the incoming or expanding business.

Fennimore has an excellent public school system and is also the home of Southwest Wisconsin Technical College. Southwest Tech offers nearly 50 programs at the College adjacent to the Fennimore Industrial Park. Furthermore the college will work with businesses to customize training to meet specific business needs.

Impacts crated by Southwest Tech in FY 2018-19

Southwest Wisconsin Technical College (Southwest Tech) creates a significant positive impact on the business community and generates a return on investment to its major stakeholder groups-students, taxpayers, and society. Using two pronged approach that involves an economic impact analaysis and an investement analysis, this study calculates the benefits received by each of these groups. Results of the analysis reflect fiscal year (FY) 2017-18.
