Renewable Energy and Conservation

Solar Farm

Fennimore Industrial and Economic Development Corporation (FIEDC) and City of Fennimore representatives held a ribbon cutting ceremony early July of 2019 at the new 18 acre solar farm located on the south end of Fennimore.

Solar Farm Ribbon Cutting 2019

The solar farm is located on private farm land and is owned by Blue Earth. Fennimore Utilities has a 25 year agreement with Blue Earth which assures competitive electric rates. The privately owned solar farm will produce electricity which represents 18% of Fennimore’s annual electric needs.

Wind Energy

Fennimore currently purchases 20% of its electricity from wind energy, bringing us up to 38% will be provided by renewal energy. Far exceeding the City of Fennimore’s 2020 goals. Fennimore currently has the third lowest electric rates in Wisconsin.

LED Street Lights

Fennimore is the first community in the state of Wisconsin to have 100% LED street lights. The energy conservation through this change in lighting is substantial over a period of years.

Read more about the city of Fennimore LED Street Light project.

For more information about contracting with renewable energy sources and the conservation efforts of the City of Fennimore, please contact the Director of Public Works or the FIEDC.
