Thanks to everyone who continue to support local businesses during Black Friday and Small Business Saturday and the Shop Local With Igor  promotion that runs through December 12. Money spent locally helps our community thrive.  Businesses reported business was good through the entire weekend. The Chamber thanks Jeri Novinska and Kris Fry who chaired another successful Christmas Creations Craft Show.

Fennimore Area Chamber of Commerce Announces Fundraising Challenge

Members of the Fennimore Area Chamber of Commerce (FACC) announce they are putting a challenge out to residents, organizations and business in an effort to raise funds to add a two sided digital sign the existing community sign located on the grounds of the Fennimore Historical Railroad Society Museum.

The current community sign will remain intact except for the message area where a digital sign board will added to each side. By changing to a digital format it will offer the opportunity to promote multiple community events rather than only one message per side.

The City clerk’s office will continue to manage and program the new message board from the convenience of  clerk’s office. The community sign is and will continue to be owned and the messages will be managed by city staff. The City of Fennimore also plans to replace the pavers around the base of the sign.

Lange Signs Company has quoted the digital sign(s) at a total of $20,966.  Fennimore Area Chamber of Commerce is willing to offer matching funds up to $7,500 for donations made from now until February 29, 2020. Century 21 and Southwest Tech both have digital signs installed by Lange Signs and both report they are very satisfied with the quality of the sign and ease of  use.

A grant application was submitted to Fennimore Area Foundation (FAF) for the fall cycle; FAF awarded $500 toward the new digital sign. With the Chambers match that starts fundraising off with $1,000 in the account. FACC hopes the  community will step forward and help them raise the funds needed to make the sign project happen.

Furthermore FAF will also run any donations through their foundation which makes any donations can be used as a tax deductible donation.  It’s simple to donate, please make checks payable to Fennimore Area Foundation and be sure to note the donation is for the “community sign” and mail to P.O. Box 134 or drop off  at the City Clerk’s or Chamber office.

Watch the Fennimore Times, Fennimore Website and postings on the bulletin board in the Fennimore Memorial building for updates on our community fundraising and status of the project.

Additional information is available by contacting the Promotions Coordinator’s office 822-3599; 2019 Chamber President and Utility Clerk Ashley Walker 822-6119; or incoming 2020 Chamber President Steve Lendosky 822-6111.
