Summer is in full swing and promises to be a busy month in Fennimore. July is filled with a variety of activities taking place in Fennimore. The month starts off with the Good Samaritan Society's Chapel Run July 9 followed by the Chamber's Chicken BBQ and Community Awards July 12. July 18 a Taco Supper & Silent Auction will be hosted by the Stitzer Go-Getters 4H Club starting at 4:30 p.m. The Annual Southwest WI Tractor Ride and Equipment show will be July 23, this year they travel to Mt. Hope with proceeds benefiting the Mt. Hope Fire Department. The last week of the month the Woodard Baseball camp activities take place between July 25-28. Community Awards Nominations Deadline June 24 Do you know a Fennimore resident, family or business you would like to see recognized for their volunteer efforts in the Fennimore community? Each year the chamber recognizes area residents (living within the Fennimore School District) whose volunteer efforts have made a difference in Fennimore. The chamber asks community members to become involved by submitting nominations. This is a perfect way to recognize and thank those living in the the Fennimore area who do so much for the community but often go unrecognized. Fennimore Museums Open May 28 The Fennimore Doll and Toy Museum and Fennimore Historical Railroad Society Museum will both open for their 2016 season on Saturday, May 28. During the summer both museums will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily including holidays through Labor Day. The Fennimore Historical Railroad Society Museum, 610 Lincoln Avenue, features memorabilia from Fennimore's unique narrow gauge railroad past. The narrow gauge rail line operated in the area between 1878 and 1926, far longer than most 3-foot gauge lines in Wisconsin. During that time a narrow gauge train affectionately known as the “Dinky” chugged through the winding Big Green river valley from Fennimore to Woodman, on the Wisconsin River.
